Chicago Neck & Back Institute

Welcome to Chicago Neck and Back Institute

Here at Chicago Neck and Back Institute we successfully combined chiropractic and medical care.

Based on the science and art of these two healthcare delivery systems we are able to truly follow a biopsychosocial model of healthcare.

THE SCIENCE OF CHIROPRACTIC MEDICINE

Based on scientific fact the nervous system controls everything. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, and the nerves of the body. While the brain is protected by the skull, the spinal cord is much more vulnerable covered by 24 moving bones called vertebrae. When these bones lose their normal movement or position AKA misalignment, chiropractic subluxation, fixation they can irritate the nervous system. This can disrupt the normal function of tissues and organs, these nerves control resulting in malfunction. The science of chiropractic medicine is locating these areas of abnormal movement or malposition treating the cause and not just symptoms.

THE SCIENCE OF MEDICINE

Every illness, disease process is due to underlying deviation from normal function by structural, developmental abnormality, viruses, bacteria, gene or injury. The science of medicine is to identify the deviation from normal function.

THE ART OF CHIROPRACTIC MEDICINE

Chiropractic physicians train extensively to become experts at applying the right force, the right direction which he or she will realign, reposition a vertebrae or section of the spine. The act of realigning, repositioning is called manipulation or an adjustment. Chiropractic physicians after thorough examination and review of your health history will recommend a treatment program specific to your needs. This may include spinal manipulation, adjustment, physical therapy modalities, exercises, bracing, casting, and/or some form of traction such as spinal decompression or flexion distraction. The chiropractic physician may also refer to a neurologist, pain management physician, or physiatrist for co-treatment. The art of chiropractic medicine is to correct these abnormal movements, malposition vertebrae, and restore normal function to the tissues and organs these nerves control.

THE ART OF MEDICINE

Medical and chiropractic physician’s education and training is very similar and at times parallels one another. The medical physician will perform a thorough examination and review your health history. A treatment program specific to your needs will be recommended. This may include medications either synthetic or natural substances, injections, physical or psychological treatment to correct deviation from normal function. The medical physician may also refer to a chiropractic physician to address structural or mechanical abnormality AKA spinal misalignment, chiropractic subluxation or fixation if one is present. The art of medicine is to correct the deviations of normal function.

THE BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL MODEL

States biological (structural abnormalities, spinal misalignment, virus, bacteria, gene, injury), psychological (behavior, emotions, thought), and social (cultural, socioeconomic, socioenvironment) factors all play a significant roll in human function in the context of disease and/or illness.

TEAM APPROACH

The merger between chiropractic and medical physicians enables us to follow the biopsychosocial model utilizing a team approach. As a team we could treat the “whole person” rather than the symptoms or disease.

Come and let the physicians at Chicago Neck and Back Institute be your nonsurgical, non-operative team. We treat more than necks and backs. Herniated disc, degenerated disc, pinch nerve, headache, scoliosis, sports injury, neuropathy, carpal tunnel, spinal osteoporosis, heel and foot pain, acute chronic pain, shoulder knee pain, work and auto accidents are some of the conditions and illnesses treated by our physicians.
